“I am a 23 year old multidisciplinary artist and designer working out of Perth. I both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander with connection to the Wandandi Noongar people in south-west Western Australian and Ait Kadal people on Saibai Island. My practice includes painting, illustration, sculpture, animation and graphic design. My content delves into surreal, fantasy, contemporary Indigenous and observational humour.” – Tyrown
Tyrown Waigana has been named as this year’s winner of the prestigious National NAIDOC Poster Competition. His winning entry – Shape of Land – was judged by the National NAIDOC Committee to have best illustrated the 2020 NAIDOC theme: Always Was Always Will Be.
Waigana, a proud Noongar and Saibai Islander, has previously been named as one of WA’s best new and emerging Indigenous artists.

It’s a comic book titled ‘The Rest of Your Life’s Gonna Be Shit.’ Its a comedy about an indigenous teenager in his last two years of high school. Its an honest coming of age which features teenagers growing up in urban, working class, multicultural areas. This comic book also has social commentary and insights into indigenous lives. The story also has hard segue’s into surreal and fantasy events.
